What is the UW-Milwaukee College Connection?

The UW-Milwaukee College Connection is a UW-Milwaukee Collaborative Degree Program created and administered in partnership with participating UW-Colleges.

If you are someone who lives in the proximity of UW-Waukesha and want to pursue a Bachelors Degree-but cannot quite figure out how to fit a commute into your already full life-the College Connection might be your answer.

To save you the commute, UW-Milwaukee is traveling to your community. Working in collaboration with UW-Waukesha, UW-Milwaukee is making it possible for you to obtain a UWM Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Administration, Communication, or a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Resources- with an optional minor in Business Administration completely on-site at one of the participating UW Colleges. This partnership between UWM and the UW Colleges was formed to bring you a fully accredited baccalaureate degree program that suits your needs for convenience, quality, and affordability.

How does the College Connection Program work?

For many students, the first step is to seek admission to UW-Waukesha County. After you have been admitted, you take courses that fulfill requirements for an Associate Degree. Many of the courses you complete for your Associate Degree are also the foundation courses needed for the program. (If you already hold an Associate Degree from UW-Waukesha or another accredited college, or have many credits from a recognized college or university, you will have already completed the first step!)

A UW-Milwaukee Advisor is on site to assist you with the admissions process, to help you choose classes, to discuss career related issues, to figure out specific degree requirements, and to answer any questions you have about the program.

After your Associate Degree is complete, you transfer to UW-Milwaukee with a Major in Organizational Administration, Communication or Information Resources and an optional Business Minor. However, you do not have to drive to the UW-Milwaukee campus to complete the degree; instead, UW-Milwaukee brings the classes you need to UW-Waukesha! The on site UW-Milwaukee Advisor will explain this process in detail. Once you gain admittance to UW-Milwaukee, you begin taking the UW- Milwaukee courses needed to complete major, minor, and degree requirements-all from the UW-Waukesha campus. It is that simple!

What is an Organizational Administration Major?

The Organizational Administration Major is an interdisciplinary major that draws upon a wide range of academic areas. It is designed to develop skills in the research and analysis of problems, creative thinking, and oral and written communication. Upon completion of a major in Organizational Administration and a minor in Business, students satisfy application requirements for the UW-Milwaukee's Masters in Business Administration (MBA) as well as most other college and university MBA programs-without deficiencies. A degree in Organizational Administration is an excellent foundation for the pursuit of other advanced degree programs, as well, and provides students with the educational background necessary to succeed in a broad spectrum of professions.

What is a Communication major?

The discipline of Communication is the study of human symbolic behavior.  Communication courses are designed to help students learn both to communicate more effectively and to analyze human communication behavior in instructional, interpersonal, intercultural, group, organizational, and rhetorical/public settings.

What is an Information Resources Major?

Information Resources is the study of the organization, storage, retrieval, dissemination, and use of information.  The degree in Information Resources prepares graduates who will help individuals and organizations effectively use information resources and information technology.
