The UW-Waukesha Symphonic Band will present its spring performance with special guests, The Southeastern Wisconsin New Horizons Band at 7:30pm on Friday, April 28. The concert takes place in the Lunt Fontanne Theatre, located on the UW-Waukesha campus.
The UW-Waukesha Symphonic Band will open their half of the program with Robert Jager's Esprit de Corps and continue their 2 1/2 year long tribute to Leonard Bernstein's centennial with "Profanation" from Bernstein's Symphony No. 3. Also featured will be Somerset Rhapsody by Gustav Holst and Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral by Richard Wagner. The closing bookend to this portion of the concert will be John Philip Sousa's march, Esprit de Corps.
The New Horizons Band is comprised of older adults from the greater Waukesha/Milwaukee area. The band will perform music by Garafulla, Sousa, and pre Civil War versions of The Star Spangled Banner, America and the Doxology. Rounding out the program will be music celebrating Duke Ellington and the musical Show Boat.
