The mission of the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questions, Intersex, Asexual/Ally) Resource Center is to educate the campus and larger community on LGBTQIA-related issues so as to make UW-Waukesha a truly welcoming campus for LGBTQIA students.
With goal of making the campus as whole a safe learning environment for LGBTQIA students, the LGBTQIA Resource Center will be a model Safe Zone for the campus through the training of its staff, the development of its lending library, and the providing of connections to campus and community LGBTQIA resources. As part of this mission, the LGBTQIA Resource Center will foster allyship and advocacy among students, faculty, and staff. The LGBTQIA Resource Center will coordinate relevant training, sponsor related speakers and programs, and promote collaborative faculty/staff-student research projects.
About our Activities
The Pride Alliance is one of the largest and most active clubs at UW-Waukesha. Last year, we sponsored a number of events: Pride Prom, movie nights, sex education seminars, spoken word artist. We also attended the Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference (MBLGTACC).
Meetings: Tuesdays & Wednesdays @ 12:00pm-12:50pm
The UW-Waukesha LGBTQIA Resource Center will be staffed by volunteers from the campus Pride Alliance and the campus community at large. The Center is open from 12:00pm-12:50pm on M-F. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Center’s Co-Directors, Tim Thering (email@example.com) and Lisa Hager (firstname.lastname@example.org).
We are in the process of building the LGBTQIA Resource Center’s lending library. Donations of academic and popular books dealing with LGBTQIA issues, queer fiction, coming out books, films, and informational pamphlets about LGBTQIA services in the community are most welcome!
