Spanish for the Health Care Professional

Instructor, Cecilia Rodriguez, emerita professor
This course is designed for beginning Spanish learners in the health professions (e.g. physicians, assistants, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, social workers, etc.) focusing on health care vocabulary and situations.  We will practice basic skills and discuss cultural knowledge needed to function in a Spanish-speaking health-care environment.

Meet your Instructor!

Emerita Professor Cecilia Rodriguez earned her PhD from the University of Kansas and is a retired professor of Spanish at UW-Waukesha. In addition to teaching, for more than 25 years she has worked as a translator for health agencies at state and local levels. She has experience teaching several levels of Spanish, is a MHD medical translator, and enjoys teaching Spanish to elementary students, police departments, health care and business professionals, and travelers.

 

Spanish for the Business Professional

This course is designed for beginning Spanish learners in the business professions that need a broad understanding of Spanish culture. We will cover basic vocabulary in dealing with customers in the Spanish speaking countries. Discussions will include the culture and customs of Latin American and Spain regarding business terminology and their own standards for doing business.

Mandarin Chinese for Beginners and Business Professionals

Join native speaker Yan Peng to learn fun and simple conversational Chinese for business or travel. Learn to read and write Chinese characters, and pinyin (the Chinese phonetic spelling system). Popular tourist destinations and Chinese culture will also be discussed. You’ll be ready for your next trip to China after this great class!

Mandarin Chinese for Beginners and Business Professionals – Part II

Italian for Travelers

Ready for your trip to Italy? Get more from your experience by preparing for the most likely situations and learning the most common words you will hear and use. Beginning German I

Guten Tag!  Would you like to participate in German conversations with confidence? This course is designed to target German conversational skills and improve vocabulary using a communicative approach. Through short lessons, you will practice conversation basics: pronunciation, introducing yourself, talking about people, places and things, asking questions and directions, giving dates, and exchanging information.
