Description

Michael K. Julian, Color, Pattern, Process: A Review of Recent Projects

Michael K. Julian discusses the relationships between his various recent projects as well as the inspiration, historical precedents, materials, and methodology behind their development. “I continue to explore the expressive potential of a wide range of non- traditional art making materials in (typically) a geometric, abstract format. My investigations in abstract pattern and form manifest themselves as digital images, drawings, prints, paintings, sculpture, and functional design. Longstanding interests in systemic process, color theory, non-traditional materials, and the use of geometric abstraction as a format for transcription, continue to be driving forces in my work.”
