This class introduces the fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL) that is used by the Deaf community. It includes basic vocabulary, syntax, fingerspelling and grammatical non-manual signals. You will develop gestural skills as a foundation for ASL enhancement and will leave with an appreciation and a cultural knowledge of the Deaf community. No previous knowledge of ASL is required. Textbook required. (no class 2/17)
