WAUKESHA – “Alcohol aware comedienne” Wendi Fox will visit the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha campus Tuesday, November 14. She will appear on the Hub stage in the Commons at noon. Admission is open to the public at no charge. Her appearance originally was scheduled for October 19 but was cancelled due to illness.Continuing on her Alcohol Insanity Tour of clubs and colleges around the country, Fox carries a message that correlates low self-esteem with alcohol abuse. She draws on her own experiences, going from enjoying a privileged lifestyle in Indiana until her parents divorced and her father turned to alcohol for comfort.“I think whenever you feel sadness, there’s probably anger,” she says. “You can never be angry without feeling helpless.” What you are less likely to realize, she concludes, “is that you have all the power in the world.”A college dropout, she uses humor and preaches the desire to learn. The difference between the kids who make it and those who don’t is the will to learn, she says.
Part of the Visions & Expressions series on campus, her appearance is being sponsored by the University Convocations Committee. |
