WAUKESHA A mixed-media painting by University of Wisconsin-Waukesha student Kari Garon, Waukesha, took third place in the visual arts competition of the American Multi-Cultural Student Leadership Conference held at UW-Eau Claire in April. Depicting human separation from nature, her work earned her a $2,500 scholarship, funded by the Johnson Wax Foundation. She will transfer in the fall to UW-Milwaukee to complete her degree in art.
Each Wisconsin public and private college campus was invited to send up to five representatives to the conference. In addition to the visual arts competition, there were posters, creative writing, and reports submitted for judging at the conference.
