WAUKESHA The Higher Learning Commission is planning a comprehensive evaluation visit to the University of Wisconsin Colleges (UWC) March 10-12, 2003. The Colleges, comprised of the 13 freshman-sophomore campuses within the University of Wisconsin System, including UW-Waukesha, have been accredited by the Commission since 1977.
After full accreditation is established, re-accreditation takes place every 10 years, and the institution currently is in good standing as an associate-degree-granting college. The current process is to extend accreditation until 2012.
Recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the Commission accredits approximately 950 institutions of higher education in a 19-state region. It is one of six accrediting agencies in the United States that provide institutional accreditation on a regional basis. Institutional accreditation assesses an entire institution and accredits it as a whole. Other agencies provide accreditation for specific programs. Accreditation is voluntary.
The public is invited to submit written, signed comments regarding the UW Colleges or UW-Waukesha to:
Public Comment on the UW Colleges
The Higher Learning Commission
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
30 North LaSalle Street, Suite 2400

Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs, and they will not be treated as confidential. Those submitting comments should include their name, address, and telephone number. The Commission cannot guarantee that comments received after February 9, 2003, will be considered.
Note: Individuals with a specific dispute or grievance with an institution should request the separate Policy on Complaints document from the Commission office. The Higher Learning Commission cannot settle disputes between institutions and individuals, and complaints will not be considered third-party comment. |
