Rozga Serves Artist-in-Residency in Illinois

WAUKESHA – University of Wisconsin-Waukesha professor of English, Margaret Rozga will serve a winter/spring artist-in-residency at the Ragdale Foundation, located in Lake Forest, IL. The award recognizes Rozga for her outstanding work as a poet and provides her with an environment that encourages its continuation.

The non-profit, internationally acclaimed artists’ community established in 1976 is situated on the grounds of architect Howard Van Doren Shaw’s Arts and Crafts style home. With its exquisite natural surroundings of meadow and prairie that enhance its beauty and seclusion, Ragdale hosts more than 175 artists, writers and composers each year. Residencies last from two to eight weeks.

Acceptance to Ragdale is highly competitive. A panel of professionals working in the same field as the artist reviews submitted work and chooses award recipients.

Rozga has been teaching at UW-Waukesha since 1982, advises the Literary Club, and participates with several groups of “performance poets.” Her work appears in publications around the country and on a number of arts and literary calendars.

Ragdale is subsidized by the Foundation and its supporters, including the Chicago Community Trust, the City of Lake Forest, the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, Haffner, the Helix Foundation, the Illinois Arts Council, Illinois First, the James S. Kemper Foundation, Kemper Insurance Companies, the Lake Forest Junior Garden Club, PGA Tours, the Sara Lee Foundation, and the State of Illinois, together with many others.

Rozga lives in Waukesha.
