WAUKESHA Co-sponsored by two student organizations at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha, Diversity Club and OLLA (Organizacíon de Líderes Latino-Americanos), the fifth annual Fiesta para la Comunidad will be held in the dining area Friday, November 8, from 6:30 to 11:00 p.m. UW-Waukesha is located at 1500 N. University Dr., Waukesha.
Admission, food and entertainment are all free, and the whole community is invited to enjoy the celebration with students, faculty, and staff.
Again this year there will be a pepper-eating contest, with a cash prize of $50 for the person who consumes the hottest one. Bring your homemade salsa. The one judged best will earn a $50 prize as well. Chips will be provided.
The program includes entertainment for young and old with a piñata for the children, face-painting, and both live and recorded music. Contemporary Latin band Bahia will play from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. followed by mariachi music by Las Trio Jinetes from 7:45 to 8:54 p.m. Flamenco dancers will perform from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m., and DJ Sonido Panchanga takes the stage from 10:15 to 11:00 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come in costume.
Food will be provided by the sponsoring organizations and through donations from local restaurants and food distributors.
Free evening parking is available on the street and in campus lots. |
