WAUKESHA The University of Wisconsin-Waukesha Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble will present their fall concert on Friday, November 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, located in the Fine Arts Center on campus at 1500 N. University Dr. Admission is free and open to the public.
Leading off the evenings program, the jazz ensemble will perform, finishing its set with the world premier of an original work by student Dan Hofmann.
The symphonic band will feature the First Suite in Eb for Military Band by Gustav Holst and A Copland Tribute adapted by composer Clare Grundman. Comprised of a medley of music associated with composer Aaron Copland, the Grundman piece excerpts from Fanfare for the Common Man and Simple Gifts from his ballet Appalachian Spring and also music from his ballet Rodeo.
Both groups are directed by Craig Hurst, associate professor of music, who also joins the jazz ensemble on trumpet.
