WAUKESHA Some, but not all, of the eggs packaged by students and dropped from the roof of Northview Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha last Thursday, May 8, remained unscrambled.
Students from kindergarten through college were invited to participate in the egg-drop challenge. Approximately 30 entered the competition, but only UW-Waukesha students and elementary schoolers created containers that provided enough cushion to keep the eggs from cracking on impact with the pavement.
UW-Waukesha students who designed containers judged the best were:
- 1st place: Jamie Steenweg, a freshman from Muskego
- 2nd place: Christine Schuldt, a sophomore from Sussex
- 3rd place: Dan Burrie, a freshman from Waukesha
Elementary students who won monetary prizes for their successful creations were:
- 1st place: Patricia Obinku, 2nd grade, Hawthorne Elementary School
- 2nd place: John Habib, 4th grade, Bethesda Elementary School
- 3rd place: Jacob and Becky Machajewski, home schooled in Milwaukee
