WAUKESHA Students at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha care, too. The Student Government Association (SGA) on campus is sponsoring a Soldier Drive April 5-8, soliciting donations for special packages to be sent to U.S. armed service members in Iraq and Afghanistan.
SGA members will staff a table in the Commons from 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. for four days to collect money from faculty, staff, and students who want to show their support for US troops deployed in danger zones.
UW-Waukesha student Kristopher Steinbrecher, Madison, is a coordinator for the non-profit group, Supporting Our Soldiers USA, Inc., which assembles and distributes the packages. In addition to a letter of appreciation, each package, costing $50, contains a minimum of two disposable cameras, a picture frame, three notebooks, a box of envelopes, a good quality pen, a clock, and a phone card. Donations are tax-deductible. Located at 1500 N. University Dr., UW-Waukesha has the largest enrollment among the 13 freshman-sophomore University of Wisconsin Colleges campuses. For information about programs, admissions, or financial aid, contact the Student Services office, (262) 521-5200, or visit the Web at waukesha.uwc.edu.
