Greenstreet to Speak at UW-Waukesha Graduation

WAUKESHA – University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s interim chancellor and dean of its School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Robert Greenstreet will address degree and honors recipients, their friends and families, and all gathered at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha’s annual Honors & Degree ceremony in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre Thursday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m.

Greenstreet, who practiced architecture in his native UK from 1972-1977, has been teaching at UW-Milwaukee since 1981, and served as the dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning since 1991, also has been selected as Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett’s candidate for city architect/planner. If approved for the new position by the city’s Common Council, he will give up his role as chair of the Plan Commission but remain dean of the School.

A registered architect in the UK, he earned both his diploma and Ph.D. from Oxford Brookes University. At UW-Milwaukee, he teaches legal and professional practice, building construction, graphics, and general design and is known for his creative mind. Very active in the community, he also has written many scholarly pieces, including authoring or co-authoring six books, contributing to 14 others, and producing more than 140 articles and papers, mostly on the legal aspects of architecture.

In addition to UW-Milwaukee sending one of its most distinguished assets to UW-Waukesha for this ceremony, the two Milwaukee metropolitan campuses share another link, the UW-Milwaukee Colleges Connection. Through this joint program between several UW Colleges campuses, including UW-Waukesha, and UW-Milwaukee, students start college at the two-year campus and are able to complete a bachelor’s degree without having to leave it. This year, six UW-Waukesha students will earn their bachelors’ through this program, up from four students last year. More than 60 students from UW-Waukesha currently involved in it continue to work toward their bachelor’s degrees.

UW-Waukesha has the largest enrollment among the 13 freshman-sophomore UW Colleges campuses. For information about programs, admission, or financial aid, contact the Student Services office at (262) 521-5200 or visit the Web at waukesha.uwc.edu.
