Margaret Cleek has been named interim chancellor of the University of Wisconsin Colleges. She heads an administrative transition team put in place following the departure of former Chancellor William Messner, who resigned to accept the presidency of Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
Cleek has served as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the UW Colleges since 2000. Prior to that position, she was the associate vice chancellor for academic affairs for five years. She has also taught at UW-Washington County in West Bend and was the associate dean at UW-Waukesha from 1991-1995, where she also served on the faculty. She earned her B.A. at the University of Illinois-Chicago and her M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
As part of the administrative transition team, Gregory Lampe has been appointed as interim vice chancellor for academic affairs. He has been associate vice chancellor since 2000. Prior to his administrative duties, he was an associate professor in communication and theatre arts at UW-Rock County in Janesville. Lampe earned his B.S. at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, his M.A. at Northern Illinois University and his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
