WAUKESHA University of Wisconsin-Waukesha mens basketball coach, Neal Nelson notched his 200th Wisconsin Collegiate Conference (WCC) victory when the team beat UW-Marinette on November 13. His WCC record now stands at 204-37 and 375-160 overall.
Nelson, an associate professor of physical education and director of the campus athletic program, came to UW-Waukesha in 1983. In his first season as mens basketball coach, he earned the WCC championship and was named coach of the year, an honor he has received nine additional times since then.
A native of Dodgeville, WI, Nelson graduated from UW-La Crosse in 1977 and finished his masters degree at Adams State College, Alamosa, CO, in 1982. He taught and coached at high schools in Colorado before coming to UW-Waukesha.
He lives with his wife and two daughters in Waukesha.
