UW-Waukesha University Camp Back for 20th Year

WAUKESHA – Again this summer, the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha is offering students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grades an opportunity to sample college and “Explore the Future.” For the 20th year, the UW-Waukesha University Camp will give students who are carrying a C or better average a taste of college life and make them aware of their future educational options.

The one-week camp session will be held June 20-24 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the UW-Waukesha campus. Space is limited so students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

University professors and staff will conduct introductory mini courses in areas such as engineering, political science, and computer science and present workshops on the development of study skills. They will lead career exploration activities, and guest motivational speakers will address the benefits of higher education.

The camp fee of $300 per child covers tuition, supplies, and activities. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) offers full scholarships to qualified students of color (Hispanic, Asian-American, Native American, and African-American).

For transportation arrangements, to check on eligibility for a scholarship, or for additional information about the program, contact Anna San Diego, UW-Waukesha Pre-College Program Coordinator, at (262) 521-5502.
