WAUKESHA – The University of Wisconsin-Waukesha Students for Peace organization is sponsoring a program, “Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land: US Media and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict,” on Tuesday, May 3, from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Commons Room 101. The public is welcome, and there is no charge.
They will show a DVD about the conflict to set the tone for a discussion led by student Ahmad Abuothman, who has researched the subject extensively. The program will provide a striking comparison of US and international media coverage of the crisis in the Middle East, zeroing in on how structural distortions in US coverage have reinforced false perceptions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
