WAUKESHA –Mark Lococo, who is directing the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha’s spring theater production, In Their Own Words: A Vietnam Chronicle, has selected a cast of seven students and one non-student to re-create the experience expressed by American military who fought in Vietnam.
The play was adapted by Betsy Lifton and Mindy Schanback from non-fiction sources, such as Nam: The Vietnam War in the Words of the Men and Women Who Fought There by Mark Baker, Dispatches by Michael Herr, Everything We Had: An Oral History of the Vietnam War by Thirty-Three American Soldiers Who Fought It, edited by Al Santoli, and Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam, edited by Bernard Edelman.
Acting in the production will be:
- James Boylan, Hartford, as Sal
- Theresa Cinpinski, Wauwatosa, as Joan
- Jared Cisz, Waukesha, as Peter
- Jonathan Dorn, Waukesha, as Kevin
- Nick Gilbert, Pewaukee, as Charles
- Stephanie Sell, Hartland, as Ellen
- Deborah Skidmore, Waukesha, as Alice
- Jeff Smerz, West Allis, as Scott
All are students except Smerz, who is theater manager at the campus.
Student, September Olson, Wauwatosa, will do the stage management, and student Tony Menzia, West Allis, will serve as dramaturg.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, March 17, 18, 24, and 25, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 19, at 2:00 p.m. in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, located in the Fine Arts Center on campus at 1500 N. University Dr.
Talk-backs after the Friday shows will give actors and members of the audience an opportunity to enter the conversation.
