UW-Waukesha Student Group Hosts National Film Festival

WAUKESHA – The Students for Peace at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha in conjunction with the Plowshare Center are co-sponsoring a United Nations Association Film Festival (UNAFF) here Tuesday, March 21.  Films will be shown in the Commons, Room 101, on campus at 1500 N. University Dr., Waukesha.

All of the films are documentaries, produced by independent film makers and submitted to a jury organized by the UNAFF committee in Stanford, California.  The jury selected thirty-two from the more than two hundred and seventy films received from all over the world for this eighth annual UNAFF. Only a few will be shown here. This is the first time a traveling UNAFF will stop in Wisconsin. For additional information about the UNAFF, visit unaff.org.

Admission is FREE and open to all. Parking on the UW-Waukesha campus also is free, and no permit will be required.  The schedule, with film titles, is:

  • 3:00 p.m. Opening Words – Students for Peace
  • 3:05 p.m. Sadako’s Cranes (Japan/USA)
  • 3:15 p.m. The Oil Factor behind the War on Terror (Afghanistan/Iraq/USA)
