WAUKESHA – Jeff Smerz, who will be directing the fall theater production at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha, will hold auditions to cast five men and two women for roles in Spinning Into Butter, a play by Rebecca Gilman.
Audition times begin at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, September 11 and 12, in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on campus at 1500 N. University Dr., Waukesha.
Players may have a prepared monologue, but it is not necessary. Academic credit is available.
In Spinning, a black student at a mostly-white Eastern college is the subject of a hate crime. In dealing with the situation, the school’s leaders are forced to re-assess their own disavowed biases.
The production will run two weekends, November 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11.
