Lococo will hold auditions for the campus spring production of
March On Milwaukee: A Memoir of the Open Housing Protests, an
original work written by UW-Waukesha professor of English
Margaret
Rozga, who participated in the historical movement.
Consisting of reading from the script, the auditions
will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, January 23 and 24, at 7:00 p.m.
in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on campus at 1500 N. University Dr.,
Waukesha.
Lococo is seeking an ensemble of 7 adults (18+), both
genders, all races. African-Americans are encouraged to audition.
Once a cast is selected, he will hold rehearsals Sunday-Thursday at
7:00 p.m.
Looking back 40 years at a formative a chapter in
Milwaukee’s history, the play incorporates archived transcripts,
audio and video footage, and the words of those who participated in
Milwaukee’s civil rights movement. Talk-back guests have been
invited.
Performances have been scheduled for Fridays and
Saturdays, April 13, 14, 20 and 21, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April
15, at 2:00 p.m. College credit is available for participation.
