WAUKESHA –
Jeff
Smerz, who will be directing the fall theater production at
the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha, will hold auditions to
cast four men and two women for roles in Beau Jest, a
comedy by James Sherman.
Audition times begin at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and
Wednesday, September 11 and 12, in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on
campus at 1500 N. University Dr., Waukesha.
Actors may have
a prepared monologue, but it is not necessary.
Those interested
in set construction, costumes, lighting, or other stage work
also may want to attend. Academic credit is available.
In Beau Jest, a nice Jewish girl who is
seeing a WASP executive needs to convince her parents that she
would only marry a good Jewish boy, preferably a doctor. When
her parents insist on meeting her boyfriend, she employs an
actor to play the part. While he’s not Jewish, either, both she
and her parents fall for him.
The production will run two weekends, November 2,
3, 4, 9 and 10.
