New Freshman Admission Information

New Freshmen are degree-seeking students who have not earned any college degree credits after graduation from high school. Students who have earned Advanced Placement credits or college credits while still enrolled in high school are considered new freshmen. New freshmen can attend full-time or part-time and can be traditional students (less than age 22) or adult students (ages 22 and older).

Admission Requirements

Traditional Students (less than 22 years of age):

  • High school diploma, GED, HSED, or other evidence of ability to begin college-level work
  • ACT/SAT scores - waived for students who are age 21 or older
  • College preparatory credits (17 credits): 
    • 4 credits English (composition, literature and/or speech)
    • 3 credits Mathematics (algebra, geometry and higher)
    • 3 credits Social Science
    • 3 credits Natural Science
    • 4 credits Electives

Adult Students (22 years and older):

  • High school diploma, GED/HSED, or other evidence of ability to begin college-level work
  • ACT/SAT scores are waived

Prospective students who do not meet the criteria above are encouraged to apply. They are considered on a case-by-case basis and may be admitted into an academic support program.

All admissions/registrations are subject to enrollment limits.

Priority Application Dates

Applications received by the following dates will be given first priority. Applications received after these dates will be admitted on a space-available basis.

Fall admission ………..April 1
Spring admission …….December 1

Here’s how to apply:
  1. Submit a UW System Application for Undergraduate Admission to the UW-Waukesha Student Services Office. Applications are available from a high school guidance office, from the UW-Waukesha Student Services Office, or on-line at  http://apply.wisconsin.edu/
  2. Contact your high school guidance office to have an official transcript sent to the UW-Waukesha Student Services Office.
  3. Submit an ACT or SAT score report to UW-Waukesha (waived for students who are age 21 or older).
  4. Send your completed application and a $35.00 application fee to the Student Services Office
