In 2008 Neal Nelson begins his 26th year as the head men's basketball coach at UW-Waukesha. He has won the most games as men's basketball coach in the school's history and he is near the top in that category in the Wisconsin Junior College Basketball Conference. Nelson's teams have won 442 games and lost 178. In conference play, his teams have won 243 games and lost only 44, a tremendous winning percentage of 85%. Nelson's teams have won 3 state championships in the 1987-1988, 2001-2002 and 2006-2007 seasons. They have also won 15 eastern division titles and 8 Wisconsin Collegiate Conference championships.
Nelson is assisted by Dick Luther. Luther begins his 42nd year coaching basketball at various schools. He has well over 400 wins in his career. He continues to conduct basketball camps and clinics and is recognized as one of Wisconsin's most dedicated coaches. He is admired across the state for his love and passion for the game.
