Women's Basketball 2002-2003
This team featured only one sophomore, Melissa Janicki, (who finished
sixth all time in 3 pointers made), and 8 freshmen, one of the youngest
teams to play in the history of the program. The season record was
25-5, and they proceeded to win the school's 10th conference title
in 11 years. Lisa Voelkel became the first player in school history
to finish in triple digits in 4 categories (points, rebounds, assists,
and steals), and her 100 steals is a first ever for the program. Amanda
Ireland led the team in scoring, and Amber Kaplan, Katie Pingle and
Rebecca Ligman all totaled over 150 rebounds, another first for the
program. Rebecca Ligman led the team in free throw attempts (120),
and free throws made (76). It was the sixth consecutive year that
the Cougars won more than 20 games, and the fourth of 25 or more.
