Strategic Planning

A visioning and planning process to develop a 10-year strategic plan for the UWM at Waukesha Field Station is in progress.
The plan will establish a well-defined direction leading to increased use as a research facility, a plan for data archiving, and increased opportunities for STEAM education and outreach.

Thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation,  the Field Station has begun a new strategic planning process.

The UW-Milwaukee at Waukesha faculty members Teresa Schueller (Biology), Suzanne Joneson (Biology), Ada Duffey (Business), Bill Schneider (Philosophy), and Quintin Bendixon (Geology and Geography) obtained funding through a NSF grant to undergo a comprehensive planning process that will result in a 10-year strategic plan that will direct the future of the station.

The strategic planning process has gotten off to a strong start, with a formal planning meeting held at the Field Station classroom building on Nov. 16, 2018.  More than 25 area experts gathered to advise on increasing the future educational and artistic impact of the station for K-12 and university students, as well as the general public.  The expert advisory group included faculty and staff, from many different disciplines UWM at Waukesha, several art faculty members from UWM’s Milwaukee campus, WI Master Naturalists, K-12 educators, as well as field station experts from nearby Carroll University and as far away as Berkeley University and University of Montana.

Future meetings to advise on increasing the scientific impact of the station, as well as directing sound and sustainable management practices that will insure the continued success of the station are planned.
